St Fillan’s Primary School Pilot
Following initial training in the core ideas of The Motivated School, we were faced with the challenge of introducing the approach within our establishment. Keen to impact directly on pupils, we agreed the aim of our pilot project would be to raise pupil’s awareness of the different learning stances and to explore the strategies we can use in order to move towards a positive stance. Primary 3 and Primary 6 have been selected to take part in this pilot project.
Pupil materials have been developed for each stage and will be used over a period of 4 sessions. The sessions encompass a collaborative learning approach and make use of Circle time and puppets to help explore the key ideas of motivation with pupils.
The impact of the pilot will initially be evaluated through the pupils’ completion of a ‘Pupil Response’. A sample of 5 children from each class will then form a focus group in order to gain a broader view of the successes and challenges of the pilot.
